The Insane Comeback of Robert Pattinson

A new actor has, officially now, taken on their shoulders the immense responsibility of embodying the iconic character of Bruce Wayne. The Batman. It’s Robert Pattinson.

Robert Pattinson is the new Batman. Who would’ve thought, right?

Pattinson rose to success after his role as Cedric in Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire. Three years after that, the Twilight Saga followed.

We all remember those. An awful franchise. Insanely cheesy and cliched films marketed for a very specific niche that were jammed down our throats by producers and studios. It’s good they are over.

The Twilight Saga was, unfortunately, insanely popular. Usually, in Hollywood, any lead actor in a massive franchise such as that one has their name associated with only that for many, many years. Fortunately, lately actors have been managing to escape this black hole of talent slaughter: Jennifer Lawrence is blooming after Hunger Games, Daniel Radcliffe is absolutely killing it, even Elijah Wood has been getting some recognition recently.

Kristen Stewart, Bella in Twilight, has also been doing her own thing and smashing it.

There’s nothing to say.

Robert Pattinson, naturally, fell down that black hole for a few years. From 2012 (last Twilight film, thankfully) until 2016, Pattinson stared in a couple of indies, probably trying to move away from the Edward Cullen typecast and popularity.

Now, none of these films really bombed. But none of them did very well, either. None of them allowed Pattinson to rise back to success.

Until Good Time.

A critically praised masterpiece. Directed by the Safdie brothers, Good Time stands as the most universally acclaimed indie of 2017.

Pattinson’s performance in Good Time is, undeniably, brilliant. And that did wonders for his career.

After Good Time, Pattinson did High Life, another indie which he probably signed up to before knowing what success Good Time would reap. Only after that praise did Pattinson start really getting back into the game.

Connie in Good Time.

His next film is The Lighthouse, which currently stands at 98% on RottenTomatoes. After that, it’s The King and The Devil All the Time, two productions with an insane cast and crew that seem as if they’ll also be great films.

And then it’s Tenet. The new Christopher Nolan movie in which Robert Pattinson is said to have a great role. Any role in a Nolan film is a great role, though.

All of Pattinson’s upcoming projects seem great. And there are two more films with him in pre-production. We don’t know much about them.

But then comes The Batman.

Two days ago, this was officially announced. Robert Pattinson is the new Batman. That’s insane, isn’t it?

Robert Pattinson.

An actor that only seven years ago was known for nothing but his role as Edward Cullen in the flop that was the Twilight Saga. After a long stream of indies, Pattinson manages to land Good Time, which turns out to be an immense success and leads to many other exciting projects. And then he gets to be the Batman in a new superhero trilogy.

In Hollywood, people come and go. Actors shine and disappear. It’s sad, but true; there is no justice for talent in Hollywood. And yet again, Robert Pattinson wielded his own fate and is soon to be back on top. It’s insane, but that’s how Hollywood works.

And, apparently, Robert Pattinson knows how to work Hollywood.
